DETERMINATION OF As, Cd AND Pb CONTAINED IN THE SURFACE COATING OF A BABY TOY USING ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTROPHOTOMETRY
The Food Sanitation Law of Japan has defined regulatory standards for materials used in baby toy. The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare Japanese Government partially revised the standards on March 31st, 2008. The points of the revision are indicated below.
1) The test target was changed from the raw material paint to the product surface coating.
2) The basis for testing was changed from the raw material to the product .
3) A regulatory standard for the lead contained in metallic toy accessories was newly established.
In particular, “1) Test target” was changed substantially. Previously, it was assumed that saliva was the cause of elution. Accordingly, a solution extracted via water was used for measurement. Under the revised law, it is assumed that accidental ingestion is the cause of elution, so the solution has been changed to one extracted via 0.07mol/L hydrochloric acid. In this experiment, the surface coating of a toy was extracted via 0.07 mol/L hydrochloric acid and measured. Model:Z-2000 |
