Hitachi's LaChrom and LaChromUltra Columns combine eight unique surface chemistries on high purity silica including four C18 (octadecylsilane) chemistries.

C18 columns are the most widely used in HPLC, but every resin has its own unique characteristics.
By "endcapping" the C18 chains, an even broader range of physical and chemical properties can be achieved. High-efficiency separations result when these column properties are well balanced with those of the sample and the mobile phase.
With four different C18 chemistries, highly optimized separations can be developed. |

Non-endcapped C18 column

Useful for separating highly hydrophobic compounds as their strength of interaction with the resin is reduced (compared to C18). A reduction in analysis time is also realized. |

The phenyl group modifier is useful for separating aromatic compounds based on  -electron interactions. |

| HITACHI LaChrom CN (5µm) |
The cyano group modifier can be employed in both reverse and normal phase separations. Its unique selectivity is useful for separating extremely hydrophobic compounds (reversed phase) or based on polar interactions (normal phase). |

| HITACHI LaChrom SIL (5µm) |
The first choice for normal phase separations. It can be used for separating fat-soluble compounds or positional isomers, for example which are difficult or impossible to separate in reverse phase systems. |

| HITACHI LaChrom Diol (5µm) |
Separation is based on the interaction with hydroxyl groups. This distinctive column chemistry can be used in both HILIC (hydrophilic interaction chromatography) and normal phase applications. |

| HITACHI LaChrom NH2 (5µm) |
The advanced surface modification of this amino phase exhibits excellent durability and is particularly useful for analyzing saccharides and oligosaccharides. |
